Young Life sells Christmas trees
Grady County Young Life, a non-profit, non-denominational outreach ministry for high school students, is currently taking orders for freshly cut Fraser fir Christmas trees.
All proceeds from the sales of the trees will be used to help send students to camp in January. You can pre-order your tree through Nov. 15 by calling 220-1210 or see any Young Life Student for an order form.
Trees will be delivered at the Young Life Office on 1st Avenue, NE in Cairo on Friday, Nov. 22.

Hall reunion this weekend
The annual family reunion of the descendants of Lucian and Susan Lee Hall will be held Saturday at 243 Broome Circle in Cairo.
The family will meet at 4 p.m. to enjoy fishing and visiting with the evening meal served at 6.

FFA holding annual fruit sale
The Cairo High School FFA members are currently taking orders for citrus fruit and Washington apples. All fruit is certified U.S. No. 1 and comes packed in 4/5 bushel boxes weighing approximately 40 pounds.
Boxes can be split between two different kinds of fruit, if desired.

Gordon Heights to hold festival
The Gordon Heights Baptist Church will be having a Fall Festival on Saturday, from 3 p.m.-6 p.m.
There will be live music, hot dogs, games, face painting, inflatables and door prizes.
Everyone is invited to bring their families and enjoy a day of free fun and fellowship.
Library accepts food for fines
As is an annual Christmas custom, the Roddenbery Memorial Library will be accepting non-perishable food items in payment of fines like overdue materials during November and December.
Patrons will receive a $1 credit towards their current overdue fines for any undamaged, unexpired and unopened boxed or canned food items.
All the items will be donated to the local Help Agency. There is no limit to the number or amount of fines that can be cleared but bills for lost or damaged library items and collection fees are not eligible for the ‘Food for Fines’ program.
Eastside Baptist to hold revival
The revival at Eastside Baptist Church in Cairo concludes at 7 p.m. today. The Rev. Al Sessions is the speaker.
The theme for the revival is ‘Dare to Be Transformed’ and everyone is invited to attend.
Country club to hold golf tourney
The 14th Annual Golf Classic, sponsored by the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Cairo Country Club.
The cost is $240 for a four person team. Check in begins at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. There will be various prizes including a hole-in-one contest with a chance to win $10,000.

Grief support group meets
A new grief recovery support group called GriefShare is now meeting each week on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Faith Christian Center on Hwy. 188 in Cairo.
The group is for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them.

Historical society plans auction
Members of the Grady County Historical Society are making their plans for the 6th annual Silent Auction which will be under way on Tuesday.
All the proceeds from the annual auctions are invested in the maintenance and operation of the Grady County Museum and History Center.
If you would like to donate an item to be auctioned, contact any member of the Historical Society.
WMS discount cards on sale
The Washington Middle School PTO is currently selling discount cards to raise money for programs to provide incentives for students, academic achievement, to reward exemplary behavior and provide tokens of appreciation to teachers.
The cards, which featured discount to many of Grady County’s finest businesses, are $5 each and may be purchased from WMS students or at the Washington Middle School office.

The Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce has begun taking registration for this year’s Cairo Christmas Parad,e which will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5 in downtown Cairo.
Applications for the parade are available at the Chamber of Commerce and are due no later than Friday.
