ABACO, Bahamas- Former Thomasville resident Lindsay Shiver appeared in court in the Bahamas on Friday, where she, along with her two accused co-conspirators pled not guilty to the murder-for-hire charges the trio are facing.
Shiver, her alleged lover Terrance Bethel, and suspected hitman Faron Newbold Jr. were all accused of conspiring to murder Shiver’s estranged husband, Robert
Initial reports to the prosecutor showed Robert was approached by detectives, who stated they had learned of a plot to murder him, solicited by his wife. Robert requested police action, after fearing for his own life and the life of he and Lindsay’s three children.
When Lindsay and the defendants were brought into the Marsh Harbour Police Station, detectives executed a search warrant on their electronic devices. During the search, detectives came across a series of WhatsApp messages, suggesting a plot to kill Robert.
The trio maintained their innocence, however.
According to Eyewitness News, Lindsay’s attorney Owen Wells issued a brief statement on Friday, following her plea.
“Lindsay is innocent and the evidence will clearly demonstrate her innocence,” he said. “She continues to face the legal process with complete transparency and honesty.”
Wells continued to say that Lindsay is looking forward to getting the trial behind her and more importantly, looking forward to being reunited with her young children, who have not seen in her months.
Wells explained that Shiver has confidence in the integrity of the Bahamian justice system and will continue to cooperate however she can.
Shiver is expected to return to court in March 2024 for the commencement of her trial in the Supreme Court.
