Georgia’s schools chief visits TCCHS

THOMASVILLE — State Superintendent Richard Woods traded in his normal blazer for a yellow jacket. 

Georgia’s top educator visited Thomas County Central High School on Friday. 

Thomas County Superintendent Dr. Dusty Kornegay, TCCHS Principal Trista Jones, and TCCHS staff led Woods through the extensive yellow and blue halls. 

During the tour, Woods was introduced to different teachers and shown numerous areas of the school. 

The tour’s culmination was the high school’s P.R.E.P Academy. Woods was shown various program departments such as automative, video broadcasting, and nursing.

Woods said his visit went well and he has “seen a lot of excitement throughout the state.” 

Woods’ tour of school systems started with Brooks County on Friday morning. He also visited Thomasville City School system prior to Thomas County. 

The last stop on Woods’ tour of visits was Cairo High School.
