AP Scholars recognized at BOE meeting

THOMASVILLE- Thomasville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Scott Sweeting recognized numerous Thomasville High School and Scholars Academy students on Wednesday night during the board meeting for their achievement as AP Scholars.

Sweeting told those in attendance he was excited to recognize the AP Scholars for their exceptional dedication and academic excellence.

“The AP Scholars award recognizes those who have excelled in rigorous college-level coursework while still in high school, showcasing their commitment to learning and personal growth,” Sweeting said. “Each award earned not only reflects individual effort but also the support of teachers and families.”

Students who score a 3 or better on three or more AP exams are identified as AP Scholars. In comparison, an AP Scholar with Honor is a title awarded to students who earn scores of 3 or better on at least four Advanced Placement exams, and score an average of 3.25 or higher on all AP exams.

Students are acknowledged as AP Scholars with Distinction by earning a score of 3 or better on at least five exams and scoring an average of 3.5 or higher on all AP exams completed.

The hope of each award is that scholars will feel inspired and continue to strive for greatness in their future endeavors.

Each student received a certificate for their achievement and was applauded by the Board of Education.

Sophomore AP Scholars included William Casper; Willa Copps; Trinity Do; Sellers Newman; Michael Pringle and Emma Rayburn.

Junior AP Scholars recognized were Finnley Bell; Emory Cochran; Jenna Collins; Hannah Hawkins; Emily Johnson; Caroline Lewis; Arcinia Martinez; Anna Shokat, and Laramie Stokes.

Seniors who achieved the status of AP Scholar post-graduation included Naima Battle; Landon Beaty; Evelyn Glaccum; Brianna June; Morgaine Leroux; Hogan Watson, and Katie Beth Young.

Sophomores Amy Ariail, Jack Kirksey, and Kathryn Willis; Juniors Max Barbulescu and Harper Page; and Seniors Janice Dong and Colter Hill were all named AP Scholars with Honor.

AP Scholars with Distinction were the final group recognized.

Sophomores Dhruket Patel, Emma Gebel, and Julia Sharp achieved this status for their class, while Carlisle Bilbo; Ella Caroll; Rose Lehman; Lexander Lummer; and Matthew Mullins were named AP Scholars with Distinction for the Junior Class.

Seniors who will receive their certificate include Evan Ariail; Colin Connery; William Herndon; and James Martins.
