Thomas County Central High School held its Homecoming Week 2022 dress-up days Sept. 26-30. The days included Bikers v. Surfers on Monday, Heroes and Villains on Tuesday, Go Gold/Caps for CURE on Wednesday, Throwback Thursday, and White Lies Friday. Also, on Heroes and Villains day, students, faculty and staff could wear red and black or University of Georgia attire to honor the late Zach “ZJ” Lewis, a freshman who died Sept. 25.
On Go Gold/Caps for CURE day, faculty, staff and students could wear a hat of their choice for a dollar donation. Or, individuals could wear gold – the color of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, September – or simply donate. The event promotes awareness and raises funds for finding a cure for childhood cancer. TCCHS raised approximately $500.
The threat of Hurricane Ian earlier in the week led TCCHS to reschedule its Homecoming game to Wednesday, Sept. 28. The Yellow Jackets won the game against Veterans High School 48-21. Additionally, its annual Homecoming pageant and dance also received new dates and will occur the week of Oct. 17.
