THOMASVILLE — A Pelham man has been charged in a 2019 two-vehicle traffic crash in which a passenger in the man’s vehicle died.
The daytime crash occurred on Sept. 15, 2019, at Ga. 3 and Ga. 188 in Ochlocknee, said Senior Trooper Michael Moses of Thomasville Post 12 Georgia State Patrol.
Moses said a Ford Ranger driven by Mack Fred Castleberry II was traveling south on Ga. 3, while the other vehicle was eastbound on 188.
The latter vehicle did not yield after stopping and pulled into the path of the Ford Ranger, Moses said.
The pickup swerved into the northbound lane of Ga. 3. Moses said the Ford Ranger overturned and struck the other vehicle on 188.
“Both vehicles came to rest on Ga. 3,” the trooper said.
A female passenger in the pickup died as a result of the crash.
A child also was a passenger in the pickup. The trooper said the child was not injured.
The GSP Specialized Crash Reconstruction Team investigated the crash.
Castleberry, 32, 630 Stagecoach Road, Pelham, is charged with homicide by vehicle in the first degree, reckless driving, driving under the influence and endangering a child while driving under the influence of drugs.
He was released on a $1,600 bond.
