Jasper’s Allen Kennedy wins $5,000 worth of Sunoco fuel

JASPER — Allen Kennedy was one of 14 winners of the Sunoco UltraTech Free Fuel 5000 Sweepstakes and the only winner in Florida.

Kennedy has worked for the Florida Department of Corrections for the past 30 years and is planning on retiring soon.

His vehicle sports a Sunoco decal, which is what was spotted when one of the Sunoco spotters visited the store.

The spotters look for the Sunoco decal on the back of a loyal customer’s vehicle and will give them a $10 gift card and entered then to win the $5,000 sweepstakes. This is the 14th year of the Sunoco UltraTech Free Fuel 5000.

“It seems still so surreal that a guy from Jasper could win something like this,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy and his wife Manieca are planning to do a cross-country trip to the west coast to see new places like the Grand Canyon with the $5,000 in fuel.

“Since my wife is retired and I will be retiring in the new year, we want to travel,” he said. “We have a camper and with the $5,000, we can fill up and go wherever we want to.”
