Food for fines
During December, you may bring in one non-perishable food item for each dollar amount owed in overdue fines. Lost or damaged items or collection fees cannot be paid with food donations. Nothing that is damaged or past the expiration date indicated on the package or can can be accepted. All items will be donated to the Grady County Help Agency.

Donations sought for victims of fire
Several area churches and charities are working together to help a Grady County family who lost their home to a fire on December 10. Although the Grady County Volunteer Fire Department was able to contain the destruction of the fire to only about a quarter of the structure, the home is not fit to live in. The Cairo First United Methodist Church is collecting donations of new clothes and other items that might be needed by the family. If you with to make a donation, call the church at 377-3051.
