Cynthia Griner is the new health care science teacher at Thomas County Central High School.

“I really like it,” Griner said when asked how her first few weeks of teaching high school students were going. “It is a huge learning curve!”

Griner, 50, has a bachelor of science in nursing and is working on her master’s in education. She attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and is now enrolled at Thomas University.

Becoming a nurse was her childhood dream.

Before coming to TCCHS, she worked at Archbold Memorial Hospital and Southwest Georgia Technical College teaching the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program there, also. She still works at both places part-time.

“Mrs. Griner’s teaching is very hands on and is understandable for all of her students to get,” Kaitlyn Butler, TCCHS senior, said. “I am appreciative to have a teacher like her, and I look forward to working with her for the rest of the year.”

Griner’s goal for this school year is to empower young people and for them to explore and pursue a career in the health care field.
