Thomasville National Bank announces board additions

Thomasville National Bank has announced the election of three new members to its board of directors. Ron Powell has been elected to the board of Thomasville National Bank. Miles Watkins and Timothy C. Sanders have been elected to the board of TNB Financial Services.
In making the announcement, TNB President and CEO, Stephen H. Cheney stated “we are thrilled to have these three individuals joining our boards. As a community bank it is extremely important that we have strong boards to guide our organization. Each of our new Directors will bring a unique perspective that will ensure that our bank continues to perform at a high level.”
Powell is president of Senior Life Insurance Company, which is licensed in the final expense markets of 35 states and the District of Columbia, with national expansion plans under way. Senior Life is projected to bring over 200 jobs to Thomasville and the surrounding communities over the next three years. Ron and his wife, Tammy, have two daughters, Sally and Daisy, and attend First Baptist Church.
Sanders is a partner of Alexander & Vann, LLP focused in the areas of estate planning, taxation, trusts and estate administration. He also serves on the board of trustees of the Thomasville Cultural Center Inc. and the Pebble Hill Foundation Inc. Tim and his wife, Margaret, have a daughter, Caroline, and are members of Thomasville’s First Presbyterian Church.
Watkins is president of the Watkins Company, an investment business centered upon commercial real estate development and custom pine and cypress lumber. He also serves on the Archbold Foundation Board and the board of the Thomasville YMCA. He and his wife, Krista, are members of First United Methodist Church and have three children, Buck, Lula and Wyatt.
Thomasville National Bank is a locally owned community bank that was formed in 1995. Today the bank has total assets of over $440 million. The bank’s investment division, TNB Financial Services handles in excess of $800 million in investment, custody and trust assets. The company is headquartered in Thomasville and has more than 800 local shareholders. The bank was recently ranked Georgia’s top performing bank for 2010 based on financial performance.
