THOMASVILLE- South Georgia Ballet’s beloved holiday tradition, The Nutcracker, is returning to the stage this December at the Thomasville Municipal Auditorium for two performances, on Saturday, December 7, and Sunday, December 8. This magical production, a hallmark of the holiday season, promises to delight audiences of all ages with its enchanting story, stunning choreography, and festive atmosphere.
The production will feature a live orchestra, conducted by Boyan Bonev, generously funded by the Edward C. Fogg, III and Lisabeth A. Fogg Charitable Trust. The live music adds an extra layer of magic to the performance, making this year’s The Nutcracker even more special.
In addition to the incredible talent of South Georgia Ballet’s dancers, this year’s production will feature two guest artists, Chandler Proctor and Katherine Ochoa, from the prestigious Cincinnati Ballet, bringing even more excitement and professionalism to the stage. Additional highlights include Maggie Brock, who will dance the role of Clara, and Dylan O’Neal, who will portray the Nutcracker Prince, both adding power and grace to the cherished roles.
Melissa June, Artistic Director of South Georgia Ballet, shared her enthusiasm for the event:
“The Christmas season hasn’t begun in Thomasville until The Nutcracker comes to the Municipal Auditorium. The joy that this magical show brings to our community is a tradition that many of us cherish. I am so excited to showcase the many gifts that our incredible children bring, along with the treat of a live orchestra and amazing guest artists from the Cincinnati Ballet with our audience.”
Rachel Arnold, Executive Directors added, “We are grateful for our show sponsor, Thomasville National Bank, and their support in helping us bring this holiday classic to life! Their continued partnership enables us to share the magic with our community and is an invaluable piece of continuing to make South Georgia Ballet the premiere Ballet company in South Georgia.
She continued, “We are greatly appreciative for all our parent volunteers, community adult party guests, sponsors and ticket buyers to continuing to make this holiday tradition continue.”
