Initial reports to the prosecutor showed Robert was approached by detectives, who stated they had learned of a plot to murder him, solicited by his wife Lindsay. Robert then requested police action, after fearing for his own life and the life of his and Lindsay’s three children.

The defendants were brought in to the Marsh Harbour Police Station, where detectives executed a search warrant on their electronic devices. While searching their devices, detectives came across a series of WhatsApp messages, suggesting a plot to kill Robert.

All of the defendants were later interviewed and reportedly offered no comment on the allegations. They also declined to give a witness statement.

Although Lindsay initially declined to comment on the allegations, she was later asked a series of questions by detectives and admitted to sending a picture and text messages to Newbold Jr. saying, “Kill him (Robert).”

Upon her confession, Lindsay was arrested, along with Bethel and Newbold Jr. She was remanded to the notorious Fox Hill Prison, where she awaited a bail hearing.

Wednesday, she appeared in court, where she sat in the prisoner’s dock with Newbold Jr. and Bethel. According to the Bahamas Court News, it was their first time seeing each other since July 28.

The accused were all granted emergency bail on August 1, after the chief prosecutor spoke with Robert and he did not object.

Newbold Jr. and Bethel were both released on a $20,000 bail on August 3, on the conditions they wear an ankle monitor, check in at the Marsh Harbour Police Department three times a week and keep a daily curfew.

However, Lindsay remained in custody until Wednesday, when she could provide the court with an address.

The Bahamas Court News reported that Lindsay’s attorney Cassie Bethel presented the court with Lindsay’s lease and asked that her client be able to check in at the Cable Beach Police Station.

Lindsay was also required to provide her passport to the U.S. Embassy. She must remain in the Bahamas until her court date of October 5.

Court TV, who was live at the bail hearing, stated the court clerk told Lindsay she is not to have contact with her co-defendants, her husband or any of the prosecution witnesses. However, she is permitted to speak with her three sons, which will be facilitated by their maternal grandmother, Cecilia Shirley.

Lindsay’s attorneys were contacted, but declined commenting on her release.
