THOMASVILLE- The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men in connection to the death of Andrew Hill of Thomasville. Anthony “Tony” Hires, 55, and Anthony “Seth” Hires II, 24 have both been charged with murder.

According to reports, TCSO was dispatched to a Boston, Ga. address on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 in reference to a possible murder. While en route, Sgt. Donnie Yancey and Capt. Tim Watkins were contacted by the Pavo Police Department, who claimed they had a witness to the incident that took place.

Yancey and Watkins then pulled on-scene, where they announced their presence, before noticing the garage door and side door both had been left open. They entered the residence, searching the dining room, kitchen and front living room to no avail. They then came to a set of two stairs, with one leading to the basement, while the other led to the second floor.

As Watkins approached the stairs that led to the basement, he found traces of blood. He and Yancey then went downstairs, where they found a puddle of blood and blood stains that indicated something being dragged across the floor.

The duo followed stains to the outside of the residence, at which point they contacted the Thomas County Crime Scene Units to respond.

Despite a thorough search of the home and the outside of the residence, no one was located.

Yancey then contacted the witness at the Pavo Police Department, who described the incident.

According to the witness, he was in the kitchen when he saw two males wearing ski masks run toward the back of the home, where the door that led into the basement was located.

Inside the basement, the witness heard an argument break out between the men and Hill.

One of the men reportedly screamed at Hill, questioning where his son was, before shooting him.

Hill responded to the man that he didn’t kill his son, before two more gunshots went off.

The witness believes the argument originated from the disappearance of Andrue “Trent” Hires, who is the son of Anthony “Tony” Hires.

Trent was last seen on July 18, 2022, when he fled from a traffic stop conducted by the Grady County Sheriff’s Office.

According to TCSO, there is currently no evidence Trent is deceased. However, both relatives were under the belief Hill played a role in Trent’s disappearance and or death.

Trent is still listed as a “Missing Person.”

The witness confirmed the relatives were the perpetrators when they took off their ski masks and confronted him, threatening him with their weapon.

TCSO Public Information Officer Capt. Steven Jones said this case has really muddied the waters in the Trent Hires disappearance.

“Please don’t take justice into your own hands,” he said. “It may seem like we move slowly, but we are just very methodical.”

Anyone with any information regarding Trent Hires is encouraged to contact Jones at tcdare@rose.net.
