CAIRO — Residents donated blood Friday at the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce.

Donors received long sleeves T-shirts and a wellness check-up which included a blood pressure reading, an iron count and a cholesterol screening.

The drive was sponsored by One Blood, which is always looking for donations of all blood types, as well as platelets and plasma.

Individuals interested in donating in future blood drives can find opportunities to do so at oneblood.org.

January is National Blood Donor Month, and chamber officials elected to mark the occasion by hosting the blood drive to kick off the month.
