• 12:15 p.m. — The Thomasville Rotary Club meets at the Plaza.

• 5:45 p.m. — Early bird Bingo games, sponsored by the Kouncil Club of Thomasville, are at St. Augustine Catholic Church social hall. Regular Bingo sessions begin at 6:45. Prizes awarded and proceeds go to local charities of southwest Georgia.

• 12:30 p.m. — Thomasville Kiwanis Club meets at the Plaza Restaurant.

Monday

• 5:30 p.m. — Ochlocknee City Council is holding its regular monthly meeting at Ochlocknee City Hall.

Tuesday

• 6 p.m. — Overeaters Anonymous meets at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in the Guild Room. There are no dues or fees and is open to men and women. Everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively is welcome. For information, call 226-0556 or 221-1202.

• 6:30 p.m. — The Thomasville Orchid Society will meet in the Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church at 1132 N. Dawson St., Thomasville. Membership is not necessary to attend. Newcomers and guests are always welcome at our meetings to learn more about these flowers, their history and tips for their care. The group encourages everyone to bring any orchids in bloom to show off as well as a snack to share.

Miscellaneous

• The Rotary Club of Thomasville is currently conducting its annual coat drive. The coats may be new or gently used. Club members will have the used coats cleaned and then give both the new and used coats to The Coat Closet at the Food Bank for distribution to people in need throughout Thomasville and Thomas County. If you know a Rotarian give him or her your coats to bring to a meeting in December or January. For pick-up call (229) 378-0938.

• Thomas County Schools, in partnership with the Thomas County Public Library System, has implemented “Bee 4 the Classroom.” This program is designed for parents and children from birth to 3 years old or prior to entering a school setting. Staff members from the school system and the library will be available monthly from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at each of the county library branches to offer parenting tips for reading to young children, as well as provide food and play time for the little ones. • Gentiva Hospice is sponsoring a bereavement support group on the first Thursday of each month at 10 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, 318 S. Broad St., in Cairo.

• The Thomas County Republican Party meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at noon at Granddaddy’s Barbecue on Smith Avenue.

• The Thomas County chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness meets the first and third Mondays each month, except for holidays, at 6 p.m. at the Housing and Resource Center, 125 Lester St., Thomasville. On the first Monday of each month, an educational session is held on mental health trends and developments. This meeting is open to families and individuals affected by mental illness. Light refreshments are served. After the speaker, a confidential family and friends support meeting is held for those 18 and older whose loved ones are affected by mental illness. • Al-Anon meeting, support group for family and friends of alcoholics, every Monday, 8 p.m., Trinity Anglican Church, 325 W. Jackson St.

• The Parents Advocacy meeting will be held on Mondays, 6 p.m., at the Frederick Douglass Complex Library. All who have a vested interest in the Thomasville City Schools system and taxpayers are encouraged to attend.

• The Thomasville Aviation Museum’s “Power of the Past” exhibit, featuring numerous antique aircraft engines, is open each Sunday from 1-6 p.m. at the Thomasville Regional Airport. Appointments can be made by calling 226-3010. There is no admission charge.

• MOMS (mothers of military servicemen and women) support group meets the second Saturday of the month at 9:30 a.m. at Grassroots Coffee. For information call 221-1275.

• The Rose City Aeromodelers group has contracted with the City of Thomasville to supervise a model airport at the Thomasville Municipal Airport and a chartered club under the auspices of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. It promotes and assists members in learning to fly radio-controlled model aircraft and will hold monthly meetings at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month. For information, call 221-7589.

• The Rose City Coin Club meets the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m., at the Thomas County Public Library.

• The Rose City Symphonic Band rehearses from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturdays at the Thomas County Middle School band room. Membership is open to any musician 16 and older who plays a band instrument. • Weight Watchers meets at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Thursdays and at 8 a.m., Saturdays at 94 Commercial Drive. Weigh-in starts 30 minutes before each meeting.

• The Thomasville Multiple Sclerosis self-help group meets at 6 p.m., the third Tuesday of every month at the Plaza. The meeting is to bring area people together to discuss their issues in coping with the disease and the organization. Family members and caregivers can attend. • The Country Hoedown is at the corner of Sapp and Burnum (Mt. Olive Road), in Pelham every Friday from 7 to 11 p.m. There is live country music for line and couple dancing with no door charge but donations are welcome. For information, call 683-3496 or 294-4451.

• Thomasville Masonic Lodge No. 369 meets on second and fourth Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.

• VFW Post 4995 and its auxiliary meet every third Saturday at 9 a.m. at the post home at 1296 Old Cassidy Rd.
