Cairo to be included in statewide Bible reading event

A statewide Bible reading event is scheduled to take place around Georgia on Thursday. Beginning at 7:14 a.m. at each of the state’s 159 courthouses, there will be designated readers who will be reading aloud different sections of the Bible. Traveler’s Rest MB Church to hold revival

The members of the Traveler’s Rest MB Church invite everyone to their revival, concluding at 7 p.m. today. The evangelist for the services will be the Rev. Dr. Dale Harrison of Hickory Hill PB Church in Tallahassee. The church is located on Cal Thomas Road in Whigham.

Grady County Dawgs selling raffle tickets

The Grady County Dawgs football team is currently selling raffle tickets to attend the July 30 Braves game in Atlanta. The winner will receive four tickets plus a parking pass and the drawing will be held on July 17. Tickets are currently on sale by calling Tim Jones at 224-8526 or John Walton at 221-2453.

80s Prom Night sponsored by Zebulon

The Zebulon Theatre will be hosting a 80s Prom Night at the Grady Cultural Center on Aug. 13 from 8 to 10 p.m. The evening will feature a Foreigner Tribute band, appetizer bar, cash bar, appetizer bar, photo booth and a dance floor. Summer Reading Program activities

The Summer Reading Program continues this week at the Roddenbery Memorial with activities planned for children, teens and adults. On Thursday, July 14 at 2 p.m. will be Anime & Art Club for teens, ages 12-18; Teens will also have FINtasitic Friday on July 15 from with Game Play from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are also activities for adults this week including All Booked Up Book Club at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13 at 2 p.m. discussing the “Life of Pi” and on Thursday, July 14 at 3 p.m. will be Introduction to Pottery for all ages. Midway Baptist is holding VBS

Midway Baptist Church invites everyone to come join them for their summer Vacation Bible School through Thursday from 6 to 8:15 p.m. There will be classes for all ages, birth to adults and a meal is provided each evening.

Train project complete at History Museum

The Grady County History Museum has announced that its long-awaited “train” project has been completed and now open for the public to view. Among the many fun features of this new exhibit are the eight miniature trains that recreate the railroad journey from Cairo to Savannah and back again. The backdrops of the exhibits portray the panoramas between the towns and villages along the way and include a carnival, hobo village, a fishing camp, water tower and more. Everyone is invited to come see the new train display at the museum which is open Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Women to Women Prayer Line

The Women to Women Prayer Line is held every Tuesday at 5 a.m. and everyone is invited to participate. First Lady Dorothy Olivia Wilson, president of Women to Women Retreat of Cairo, encourages all women to call in for prayer by dialing (515) 604-900 and using the code 927246#. Shiloh MB Church reopened for worship

Members of Shiloh MB Church have announced that they have reopened for in-person worship services on the third Sunday of each month with Sunday School at 10:30 a.m. and morning worship at 11:30. The Rev. Simon Simmons III, pastor, and the entire congregation invite all to attend.

Free GED classes in Cairo

Southern Regional Technical College reminds everyone that they offer free GED classes in Grady County, both in-person and online, for those interested in earning their high school equivalency diploma. For more information, contact Christopher Hunt at 378-2929.
