THOMASVILLE- Jackie Robinson’s inspiring story comes to life as the next installment of Thomasville Entertainment Foundation’s free Family Series. “Jackie Robinson: A Game Apart” shares the impactful history of the Grady County native who broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier when he stepped onto the field with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.

Southern actor Mike Wiley brings his interactive one-man show to the Thomasville Center for the Arts on Saturday, February 8, at 11:00 a.m., telling an inspiring story during Black History Month. The one-hour performance is offered free and open to the public.

“Understanding that this is an important part of our nation’s history, TEF is pleased to bring this inspiring story to the citizens of the Red Hills Region where Jackie Robinson was born,” said TEF Executive & Artistic Director Rick Ivey.

Wiley is a noted actor and playwright who has spent the past decade bringing educational theatre to young audiences and communities across the country, with a particular focus on bringing to life the stories of key figures and important events in African-American history.

All TEF Family Series events are offered free and open to the public, thanks to generous gifts and grants in honor of Janice Faircloth by the Parker Poe Charitable Trust, Emily and Bill Searcy Charitable Trust, Dr. & Mrs. Douglas C. McPherson, the late Diane Williams Parker and other friends of Thomasville Entertainment Foundation. This particular performance is also made possible in part by a grant from Fox Gives and Georgia Presenters.
