Man hit in head, robbed at sawmill
DOERUN, Ga. — A Ty Ty man was hit in the back of the head and robbed Saturday morning when he encountered two men at a Colquitt County timber mill.
Rex Etheridge stopped shortly after midnight at the facility in the 6700 block of Highway 133 North near Doerun, police said.
He parked at the scale, got out and went in the building, Etheridge told police. When he exited the building and walked downstairs someone hit him in the back of the head.
His assailant and another male walked away with his wallet.
Etheridge told police that the wallet contained $450, a Green Dot pre-paid card and identification. He lost his glasses during the attack and was not able to tell police in which direction the assailants walked.
A deputy found Etheridge’s wallet about 100 feet from the scale house. The only thing apparently missing was the cash.
