Pence nephew campaign visit called off for now
CAIRO — A planned campaign visit to Cairo from a senior advisor to President Donald Trump was scrapped less than 24 hours after it was announced publicly, but Grady County Republican Party chair Jeff Jolly said it could still take place later this year.
John Pence, one of Trump’s senior advisors and nephew to Vice President Mike Pence, was to visit the Grady County Republican Party’s Broad Street headquarters Monday afternoon to speak with the president’s supporters. The visit, which was announced Friday afternoon, was canceled Saturday morning due to a scheduling conflict.
“It’s something where they couldn’t make flights connect at that late of a date,” Jolly said.
Though he could not guarantee a visit from Pence in the future, Jolly said he believed one was likely.
“I expect a lot of (campaign surrogates) down here in south Georgia between now and the election,” he said.
There is currently no time frame for when Pence may visit southwest Georgia, if at all.
