TCA to host FSU Emerging Artist Exhibit at Grassroots
THOMASVILLE – Boldly go where there’s gooey limbs, too many teeth, and an abundance of eyes. Inspired by all things sci fi, graphic designer and illustrator Carly Berry explores the relationship of extraterrestrial life and creatures of Earth in her three-month public art exhibition at Grassroots Coffee Co. in Thomasville.
Thomasville Center for the Arts, in partnership with KeySouth Real Estate Group, will host Berry’s exhibition at Grassroots during July, August and September. Berry is a recent FSU graduate with a BA in studio art and a focus in print making. Screen printing is her go-to medium and her work ranges from creepy to cute and everything in between.
On Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Berry will be at her Grassroots Pop-Up Shop, and visitors may shop her work whenever Grassroots is open. Art may be purchased through Grassroots or directly through the artist.
In addition,Berry’s opening reception will be held at Grassroots on Thursday, July 13 from 5:30-6:30 p.m., followed by an intimate creative conversation with the artist from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
In an effort to support and promote art, culture and creative businesses, Thomasville Center for the Arts develops partnerships and coordinates efforts that weave creativity into the economic and social fabric of our city. By bringing FSU emerging artists like Berry into public places like Grassroots Coffee through the ART@WORK exhibition series, the Center creates an opportunity for artists to creatively market, merchandise, and sell their work in a friendly and supportive environment. Over the next 12 months, four artist groups will spend three months each in this experimental environment.
Berry’s exhibition runs July 1-Sept. 30. Learn more about Berry at carlyberry.me.
