THOMASVILLE- Thomasville Entertainment Foundation’s 87th performance season continues Tuesday evening with a performance by the acclaimed Escher String Quartet with guest artist and Grammy winning classical guitarist Jason Vieaux.

The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. on March 11 in the intimate auditorium of the Thomasville Center for the Arts, a venue TEF officials say is perfectly suited for the program the musicians will present.

“The combination of a traditional string quartet with classical guitar lends a somewhat unique configuration with some lesser-known repertoire, and the acoustics in the Center’s historic auditorium will showcase the pieces beautifully,” said TEF Executive & Artistic Director Rick Ivey. “This program encompasses two guitar quintets, one by Luigi Boccherini and one by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, along with Mozart’s Quartet in D Major, plus guitar solos by Pat Metheny and Jorge Morel and a Bach violin sonata arranged for guitar by Jason Vieaux himself.”

A number of free Tickets for Teens are available for local high school students through an innovative TEF program funded in part by a grant from the Thomasville Antiques Show Foundation and an anonymous gift to the TEF Education Fund.

Acclaimed for its rare tonal beauty and profound musical insight, the Escher String Quartet – made up of Adam Barnett-Hart and Brendan Speltz, violin; Pierre LaPointe, viola, and Brook Speltz, cello – is joined by Vieaux, described by National Public Radio as “perhaps the most precise and soulful classical guitarist of his generation.”

Tickets are available with a small processing fee through Thomasville Entertainment Foundation’s website – TEFconcerts.com – or without additional fees by calling 229-226-7404.
