Woman charged in moped crash

THOMASVILLE — A Thomasville woman has been charged with misdemeanor second-degree homicide by vehicle in a moped crash earlier this month on the north bypass.

Amanda Carol Fain also is charged with operating a vehicle without registration and following too closely.

Fain was not under the influence, and reckless driving was not involved, said Sgt. 1st Class Tommy Peeples, Georgia State Patrol Thomasville Post 12 commander.

“She had bought a vehicle and had not put a tag on it,” Peeples said.

On the night of Sunday, April 9, Jerry Wayne Trull, of Cairo, was operating a 2016 Wolf moped on the north bypass when the cycle was struck on the rear by the 2006 Nissan Frontier truck driven by Fain, according to reports.

The Nissan and moped were traveling east in the right outside lane, Peeples said.

Trull was ejected from the moped. The truck and moped came to rest on the south shoulder.

Trull died the next day at Archbold Memorial Hospital.
