TIFTON — Tiftarea Academy Panther Alex Moore was named to the 2006 GISA Class AA All-State Football Team released Tuesday.

Moore, a senior offensive lineman and linebacker, was the only Panther to make the 2006 All-State squad. He was also one of six Panthers to make the GISA Region 3-AA All-Region Football Team.

Moore joined Thomas Ganas, Tripp Giddens, Kent Hill, Andrew Kicklighter and Matthew Souter on the All-Region list.

Ganas, a junior, played wide receiver, running back and defensive back for the Panthers. Giddens, a junior, played offensive line, defensive line and linebacker for Tiftarea. Hill, a senior, played offensive line and defensive line.

Kicklighter, a junior, played running back and defensive back. Souter, a senior, played quarterback and defensive back.

Valwood led the region teams with eight selections to the All-Region squad. Brookwood and Southwest Georgia Academy each had seven picks on the list.

Jon Rutkowski, Kenny Green, Robert Hires and Skyler Crosby of Valwood were named to the All-State team. Ashton Thomas, Clay Childs, Desrick Jones and Scott Cheney of Brookwood also made the list. Russ Williams of SGA was an All-State pick.

Steve Price of Trinity Christian was named the GISA Class AA coach of the year after winning the state title with a 56-7 romp over Valwood.
