THOMASVILLE – The Thomas County Central girls’ soccer team had a disappointing finish to an otherwise great season on Tuesday night as they fell 3-1 to Jackson County in the first round of the state playoffs.

The Central girls had a very good season, going 10-6 overall and 7-3 in their region. They secured third place in a very difficult region, finishing behind Houston County and Veterans. The Lady Jackets had multiple key victories, including two shut out wins over cross-town rival Thomasville, two victories over Northside that saw Central score 10 goals, and a shootout win in mid-March over Veterans.

However, the Lady Jackets couldn’t overcome their first-round playoff woes. Jackson County went up early and never looked back as they cruised to a 3-1 victory and will move on to round two to face Greenbrier, who defeated Rome 6-1 in round one.

This loss comes a little over a year after the Lady Jackets first round loss last season. After a perfect regular season, Central fell to Riverwood 3-0 in round one.
