Former foster parent charged in child sex case
THOMASVILLE — A 70-year-old former foster parent was denied bond on sex-related charges involving two girls under the age of 16 who lived in his Thomasville home for two years.
Willie Fred Jones Sr. is charged with rape, child molestation, aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and cruelty to children.
The Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division was contacted in March by a school resource officer about two abused students.
The children — who are sisters — were interviewed at The Treehouse Children’s Advocacy Center.
“They talked about being abused by Willie Jones Sr.,” said Sgt. Scott Newberry, criminal investigations division assistant commander.
Jones and his late wife fostered the children. When the suspect’s wife died, the children were placed in another foster home and told the new foster mother about activity at the Jones residence.
Jones were arrested Friday. He remains in the Thomas County Jail.
Jones’ 36-year-old son, Timuriel Jones, was arrested in April, charged with child molestation in the case and released from jail on a $3,100 bond. The suspect lived at his father’s residence while his parents were foster parents, the officer said.
Newberry said more information was gathered in the case before Willie Fred Jones Sr. was arrested.
