ABAC to open campus for prospective students

TIFTON — Prospective high school students will have the opportunity to visit Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and experience a slice of college life on April 7 during Stallion Day. Registration begins at 8 a.m. in the Donaldson Dining Hall.

A welcome and overview will be held from 9-9:20 a.m. in the dining hall to kick off the day. Potential students and families can then follow their own path from 9:30-11:50 a.m. to make Stallion Day a tailor-made experience.

For instance, if students are interested in a degree in agriculture, they can visit the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources to talk with faculty about hands on learning experiences available in their classes. Students can also take advantage of information sessions on various topics including the ABAC Honors Program and applying for admission and financial aid.

The ABAC bookstore will be open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for those who want to browse for ABAC apparel and accessories. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., the Jazz Choir and student soloists will perform in the music building. Campus clubs and organizations will be set up from 9:30 a.m.-noon in various locations across campus to provide prospective students with more information on how to get involved in student activities.

A free lunch for the visiting students will be provided from noon–1 p.m.  High school seniors and transfer students from other colleges present at the luncheon can enter a drawing for prizes which will include one $500 tuition waiver, one housing application fee waiver valued at $235, and a one semester meal plan valued at $1,500.

Beginning at 1:15 p.m., students can continue to apply for admission and financial aid, take a tour of the ABAC Lakeside housing complex, or take part in a housing question and answer session.

Prospective students should sign up ahead of time for the Stallion Day event at www.abac.edu/stalliondays.  If there are any questions regarding Stallion Day, prospective students can contact the Office of Enrollment Management via e-mail at abacinfo@abac.edu or call (229) 391-5004.  The schedule for Stallion Day may be subject to change.
