UDC chapter wins state awards

Members of John B. Gordon Chapter 383 United Daughters of the Confederacy came home from the 122nd Georgia Division Convention in Macon with many awards, including Superior Chapter Award. These awards were earned under the leadership of chapter President Mary Margaret Quiggle.

Other awards received were:

Superior Chapter — completing 1 to 15 on rating sheet and per capital received

Certificate to the chapter with more than 25 members sending in the most publicity — 3rd place

Martha Rison Sheppard Hill Award — Best Georgia Day and Flags in School Report

Chapter for the best report on activities to restore and retain chapter vitality

Mrs. Cleveland Green Trophy — First place Correct use of Confederate Flags

Placing Greatest Number Markers Non-UDC member daughter or wife of a Confederate Veteran

Chapter purchasing the most Lapel pins (Recorder of Military Service Award)

Maude Lester Eakes Cup — third place — Chapter over 50 members scrapbook

Historian Special Award — Georgia Day Display at the Roddenberry Memorial Library

Chapter purchasing the most Certificates of Appreciation — Recorder of Military Service Award

Chapter with the most outstanding Written Report — Recorder of Military Service Award

Jane Grier Durden Award — Chapter bestowing largest number National Defense Medals

Zora O. Beal Award — Chapter with over 45 members doing the best work along all education lines

Lois Moore Reid Award — second place — Best work with Real Daughters

Chairman’s Award — Best Overall Report
