Stolen RV found, returned to owner
CAIRO — Law enforcement says a camper vehicle that was reported stolen more than a month ago was found over the weekend in a residential neighborhood.
Police were dispatched to Lake View Drive on Friday afternoon after a resident informed them that he believed his stolen RV was in the area. The vehicle initially was reported stolen from the Best Western Hotel on Highway 84 East on September 4.
Officers spotted an RV matching the make and model of the missing vehicle behind a mobile home on the street. Authorities confirmed that the vehicle was stolen by matching the license plate and vehicle identification number.
The vehicle, a Dutchman RV valued at $10,000, was recovered and returned to its owner.
Two residents inside the mobile home where the camper was located were interviewed at the scene and later released after providing statements to law enforcement.
Lead investigator Lt. Wandell Asbell said the investigation is still ongoing and that charges are pending in the case.
