Hurston Waldrep struck out 13 and walked three over five innings for the Bulldogs. Rockmart’s Jonathan Suppes fanned 11 over six innings and Logan Shelton pitched the final two frames, getting the win.

On Saturday morning, Cairo held off Thomasville 7-5, getting 11 hits in the win.

Seth Kipper’s first-inning single drove in Smith with the game’s first run, but Cairo tied the game in the second on a run-scoring double play.

The Syrupmakers went in front 3-1 on DJ Collins’ single up the middle in the third. Stewart’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning cut the lead to 3-2.

Cameron Cooper’s single and Garrett Gainous’ double helped bring in two more runs for a 5-2 Syrupmakers lead in the fourth.

Duncan’s double allowed Thomasville to get within 6-5 in the sixth but the Syrupmakers got out of the game with a fielder’s choice and a groundout.

Gainous got the win, giving up five runs, three earned, on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out five and walked three. Jacob Bradshaw got the start for Thomasville, striking out five while giving up nine hits in 4 2/3 innings.
