You and your canine companion can celebrate Elisabeth Ireland Poe’s birthday

Pebble Hill’s last owner, Elisabeth Ireland Poe, was born October 31, 1897. This year PHP officials want to honor her legacy by championing a cause that she dearly supported, the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society.

Sponsored by Clanton-Malphus-Hodges Veterinary Hospital and Thomasville Animal Hospital, you are invited to join in a socially-distanced outdoor event at Pebble Hill, October 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate her birthday.

Come enjoy the beautiful grounds and a birthday cookie. Pack a picnic lunch, bring the family and your canine companion (on a leash), and enjoy the day.

Visit with some loveable, adoptable four-legged friends from the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society, test your hunting skills with one of Pebble Hill scavenger hunts or take a tractor-pulled wagon ride.

Attendees can also enter for a chance to win these prizes:

• A field outing with PHP’s program coordinator to learn about the natural resources found at Pebble Hill

• A tour of the Main House with the curator

• An overnight stay for two at Pebble Hill’s Fire House Apartment

For ease of social distancing, the total number of guests will be limited in each activity area, and museum capacity will be monitored.

Each person bringing a donation for the humane society (donated items can include pet food, leashes, collars, or harness and gentle leaders) will receive free admission to the grounds for the day. Standard grounds fees apply without a donation: Adults, $5.50, Children 2 to 12 years, $2, and children under 2 years. free. All donations from this event will benefit the TTCHS.
