Virtual walk honors young arthritis victim
COOLIDGE — A young rheumatoid arthritis victim was surprised Friday night when more than 20 vehicles passed by her Coolidge residence to honor her.
Paisley Yarbrough was “shocked” at the parade of vehicles she saw from her front lawn, said the 9-year-old’s father, Nolan Yarbrough.
Although the Friday drive-by was a surprise to Paisley, she was well aware she would be honored Saturday at a walk in Coolidge.
She was to have been honored by the Arthritis Foundation at a walk in Orlando, Florida. The event was cancelled because of the coronavirus outbreak.
Social distancing was practiced Saturday when the Coolidge walk — and others nationwide taking place simultaneously — were shown live on Facebook.
Paisley was honored in Valdosta on Saturday with a walk that also was live on Facebook.
At the walk, the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office presented Paisley with a goodie bag containing a teddy bear and items she can use while undergoing treatment for the disease.
