JRBGC partners with Mission Vision for unity in the community

The Jackie Robinson Boys and Girls Club recently partnered with Mission Vision Foundation for a fellowship event.

“The very first event partnering the JRBGC with Mission Vision Foundation (Silvia Salgado) was such a huge blessing” said JRBGC Director-Stephen Francis.  JRBGC members fellowshipped with Hispanic boys and girls in a day filled with fun, great Hispanic food, games, music and activities.

According to Francis, the goal was to unite and reassure the Hispanic community that the JRBGC is for all children of every race, nationality and background.  Francis says that the resources provided at the JRBGC are to help everybody.

“We offer after school fun activities, academic help and resources to all children that are in need of our services,” he said. “This is what the JRBGC is all about and that’s providing the opportunity for the growth of all children. Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.”

Francis reminded everyone that the JRBGC is a youth development organization dedicated to promoting the health, social, educational, vocational and character development of boys and girls. The club aims to help young people improve their lives by building self-esteem and developing values and skills during critical periods of growth.

“We really appreciate Mission Vision Foundation with Silvia Salgado, our JRBGC staff, board members, CHS volunteers, organizations and everyone else that came out to help make this event such a success!” Francis concluded.

The event began with shopping for free winter apparel and items. There were bouncy houses, soccer, food and pop up shops available outside the club during the event. Children and parents also toured the club and competed in the gameroom as membership applications were available for sign up.

Francis then spoke to the crowd, with an interpreter,  about the many benefits of becoming a JRBGC member. JRBGC Board President/GEER Coordinator-Amy Hagan and JRBGC GEER teacher Amanda Gainous also spoke to the crowd about the academic resources available while attending the JRBGC Afterschool Program.
