Man shot during robbery; Good Samaritan held up in 2nd incident
MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Colquitt County man was shot in the foot during a Saturday night robbery outside his residence, less than two hours before a good Samaritan was held up after giving two men a ride.
The first of the two armed robberies occurred at about 10:20 p.m. at the residence of Rolfi Diaz and Narciso Ramirez in the 200 block of Cedar Street.
Diaz told police that they were on the front porch when two armed assailants walked around from the side of the residence, pointed handguns at them and demanded their cash.
When Diaz told them he had no money “one of the subjects started shooting, striking him in the left foot,” police said. At that time the other gunman took the money from Ramirez’s front pocket, and Diaz handed over his money when one of the robbers pointed a gun at his head.
The two males, both dressed in black clothing, then ran back around the side of the residence from where they had appeared.
Diaz was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center for treatment. No additional information was available about his condition from the hospital on Monday.
Shortly after midnight, two males approached Mark Tillman inside a convenience store at Veterans Parkway and U.S. Highway 319 and asked to borrow a gas can. Tillman had a gas can in his car and took the two men to the 800 block of Highway 319 where a maroon GMC Yukon was parked.
When Tillman got out to help with the gas can, the other man pulled a gun on Marvin Pinion, who was in the driver’s seat, and demanded money. Meanwhile, the other assailant took Tillman’s money and hit him twice in the head.
At that time both assailants turned their attention to Pinion. One of them took the keys from the ignition and the other grabbed Pinion’s wallet containing his driver’s license, cash and debit card.
They also took Pinion’s cane, which he had tried to use to defend himself, and a second set of keys that he had in his pocket.
As they ran to the Yukon, one of the robbers fired a shot. A second shot was fired as they were driving away.
