Anything Goes: LHS Off-Broadway presents Cole Porter show

VALDOSTA – The  name of the musical may be “Anything Goes” but the show must not go past 55 minutes.

Lowndes High School Off-Broadway presents an abridged version of the Cole Porter musical next week for the Georgia High School Association one-act play competition in Tifton. 

All performances must be presented within a format no longer than 55 minutes, said Sheri Dorsett, LHS Off-Broadway director.

The student theatre organization presents the show for public performances this week.

“Anything Goes” originally debuted in the 1930s and has been revived on Broadway and in national tours many times.

The storyline revolves around a musical farce set aboard an ocean liner traveling from New York to London. There’s a stowaway in love with an heiress engaged to a lord; the stowaway is helped by a nightclub singer and a gangster.

The musical includes songs such as “Anything Goes,” “You’re the Top” and “I Get a Kick Out of You.”
