OAKLAND, Calif. — Jennings native and Hamilton County High graduate Kevin McClain has agreed to a deal with the Golden State Warriors, as first reported by Michael Scotto of The Athletic.

McClain will join the six-time world champions for NBA Summer League play, which opens July 1.

McClain emerged as one of the top two-way players in college basketball this past season.

The 6-foot-3 guard recorded 30 double figure scoring games, including 19 consecutive to close the season. McClain delivered in the biggest of situations, most notably his game-high 29-point performance vs. Temple in the NCAA Tournament, leading Belmont to an 81-70 victory. He also had a game-high 20 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals — and game-winning shot with 2.3 seconds remaining — in Belmont’s victory at UCLA.

McClain scored 27 points at Southeast Missouri March 2 as Belmont secured its fifth OVC regular season championship in seven years.

He averaged 16.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game en route to All-OVC First Team honors.

McClain helped lead Belmont to 94 victories and three conference championships in his career. He ranked among OVC leaders in scoring, assists, 3-point field goal percentage, 3-point field goals per game and assist to turnover ratio.

McClain stands 11th on Belmont’s NCAA Division I era career scoring list with 1,279 points.

He looks to follow the same path taken by former Belmont All-American Ian Clark (’13).

Clark went undrafted in 2013, only to earn NBA Vegas Summer League Most Valuable Player honors with Golden State. After playing for the Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets, Clark was part of the 2017 NBA Champion Warriors. He just completed his second year with the New Orleans Pelicans.
