Evoqua welcomes TCCHS welding students

THOMASVILLE — A group of Thomas County Central High School Career Technical Agricultural Education participants recently experienced their classroom teachings brought to life.

Students from teacher Travis Barrett’s welding classes visited the Evoqua Water Technology Thomasville location Friday, Feb. 22.

“I wanted the students to see the information and skills taught in our class and shop used in real-world application,” Barrett said. “They need to see how important these skills are. I [also] wanted the students to see the different types of jobs in a manufacturing company.”

Evoqua representatives gave a facility tour and spoke with students about the company’s operations and jobs.

“It is important that our community understand what Evoqua does and how we impact our daily lives,” Roscoe Smith, logistics and supply chain manager, said. “Evoqua Water Technologies delivers products, solutions and services to ensure water quality and consistency for municipalities, industrial water users and recreational facilities. With more than a 100-year heritage of industry-leading brands and products, technical expertise and unmatched customer service, Evoqua is the partner of choice for millions of water users across the globe.”

Senior Joshua Kline chose to visit Evoqua because he likes welding and wants a job in this field. He hoped to learn about the job environment and qualifications to work at Evoqua. He most enjoyed viewing the high-quality artistry and various equipment used there.

Senior Aaron Brock Boor liked observing a ligament manufacturing industry in action. His favorite part of the experience was seeing how everyone worked together and how this work becomes the final product.

Evoqua is excited to partner with Thomas County Schools to show students the opportunities they have in Thomasville, Smith said.

“The Thomasville Evoqua facility has grown consistently over the past few years and looks forward to continued growth, and (is) always looking for talent to join the great team,” he said. “Career opportunities are plentiful here at Evoqua, and employees are always encouraged to take advantage of the tuition reimbursement benefit package that we offer.”
