TCMS Yellow Jackets rout Cook

The Thomas County Middle School football team, with the seventh and eighth graders combined, routed Cook 38-16.

Haden Korbeneykov started things off for the Jackets with a interception and 40-yard return to the Cook 20-yard line. Abe Smith followed with a 20-yard touchdown run, and Jaden Jackson ran in the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.

The defense, which swarmed all day, led by Wilder Ethridge, Tyler Lewis, and Robert Taylor gave the offense back the ball with a stifling defensive effort. The offense answered with a 3-yard run from Jackson and Tywon Christopher’s two-point run for a 16-0 lead.

The defense continued its relentless pressure, giving the ball back to the offense. The offense responded with  a drive culminating with Jackson taking it in from 6 yards and Kendarious Reddick running it in for a two-point conversion for a 24-0 lead.

The seventh grade offense and defense took over and continued the onslaught. Kendarious Reddick added a 55-yard run, leaving the score 30-0.

The seventh grade defense continued the relentless attack on Cook’s offense getting the ball back for the offense. Reddick added a 30-yard run and threw a two-point conversion pass to Cameron Brooks making the score 38-0.

The game was turned over in the fourth quarter to the sixth graders, who held their own.

Cook added a couple of late score.
