GMC juco players sign letters of intent
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Although most of the publicity on National Signing Day is geared toward high school football players signing to play for four-year institutions, there are many junior college players across the country making the same decision.
A total of 22 GMC junior college players did just that Wednesday. Some signed within the comfort of their own homes, some have already made their way to their new colleges, and seven of them chose to celebrate the momentous occasion with their GMC coaches who have helped mold them the past year or two.
Defensive end Jabari Ellis and defensive back Khris Pam will move on to play closer to their hometowns at the University of South Carolina. Sophomore defensive back Kishawn Miller, who battled injuries in 2017, will be a member of the North Carolina State Wolfpack while his defensive backfield mate A.J. Beach will play at Appalachian State. Ramero Rock, a native of Sumter, South Carolina and the Bulldogs’ only NJCAA All-American to take first team honors, signed to continue his college football career at Charleston Southern University.
On the offensive side, 2017 starting quarterback Garrel Quainton, a Dublin native, will continue his college career at Fort Valley State University. Major Bellamy, one of Quainton’s best weapons at wide receiver, signed his letter of intent to Tennessee State University from his home. He will be joined in Nashville by offensive linemen Raekwon Allen, who received honorable mention NJCAA All-American honors this year, and Jamal Covington. Aaron Dowdell, GMC’s lone NJCAA All-America second-teamer this season, will move on to play at Georgia Southern University after only one year in Milledgeville.
