Hahira observes Independence Day
VALDOSTA – With Independence Day approaching, the City of Hahira will host an early celebration observing the annual holiday.
Activities for the free gathering will begin 3 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at the Depot, 220 W. Main St. Fireworks are to set for 9 p.m.
Live music from Stephanie Davis is scheduled 3-5 p.m. with Faith Jackson performing 5-7 p.m. Derrick Dove and the Peacekeepers will take the stage 7-9 p.m.
Emily Davenport, Hahira Main Street director, said the event is to celebrate not only the country but also to honor the military while uniting the community.
“I think it’s one of those (events) that people usually look forward to coming out to,” she said. “It kind of brings everybody back together, and it’s just one of those feel-good moments.”
Concessions include boiled peanuts, Christy’s Express, Henry’s Concessions, LA Twister Fun Cups, Locke Concessions, Stalvey Concessions and Tracy’s Italian Ice.
Kids can participate in activities such as a bounce house, a giant Connect Four, face painting, hula hoop, sack races, pony rides and attractions from Schmitt Midway.
A few of the vendors are Stained Glass by Richard, Southern Dirty Girls Soap Bar, River Chic Designs, Real Living Realty Advisors, Merciful Blessings Boutique and Hahira Lions Club.
Smok’n Pig BBQ, Kelly Barr State Farm, Hahira Huddle House, Second Harvest of South Georgia and Rountree Construction Company are some of the sponsors.
