VALDOSTA, Ga. — The man operating the truck that struck the side of the Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Lab Friday afternoon has passed away, according to authorities.

The driver, Phillip Donald Padgett of Gainesville, Fla., passed away Saturday at South Georgia Medical Center, Lowndes County Coroner Austin Fiveash said.

The man had a medical condition and lost control of his vehicle, striking the side of the Ashley Street building, Police Chief Brian Childress said.
