THOMASVILLE — St. Thomas Episcopal Church grounds will be the scene Saturday of a memorial ceremony for individuals who died in shootings in Texas and Ohio.

At 11:30 a.m., church members will read names of the 31 people killed in El Paso and Dayton shootings last weekend.

“The church bell will be tolled for each precious life lost in the violence,” said Mark Blackmore, a St. Thomas member.

Those attending may bring flowers to leave at the ceremony scene at St. Thomas at the intersection of Remington Avenue and South Dawson Street.

Blackmore said some Thomasville residents expressed a desire to do something in memory of the lives lost in the shootings.

“This is something we can do to show love and compassion of our community for victims and families in those communities,” he said.

The Dayton mass shooting took place 13 hours after a mass shooting at an El Paso Walmart last Sunday and Saturday, respectively.
