Firearm, gang charges made in March case

THOMASVILLE — Police were at Villa North Apartments looking for the last suspect in an April Florida gun theft when they located a fugitive in another case involving firearms.

Instead of gun store burglary suspect Zamarrien Lovejoy, police found Cornelius Keith Robinson 22, a resident at the 510 Old Albany Road housing complex.

Police received an anonymous tip that Lovejoy was at Villa North. He is the ninth Thomasville suspect in the April 25 Tallahassee sporting goods store burglary in which 44 firearms were taken. Eight suspects are in custody.

“He is the only one we’re still looking for,” said Lt. Toby Knifer, Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division commander.

Officers made contact with Robinson, who said he had not seen Lovejoy.

Knifer said officers knew Robinson had outstanding warrants in the March incident in which Robinson, a convicted felon, was in possession of semiautomatic rifles and pistols.

“He also is a gang member,” Knifer said.

Robinson is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of criminal street gang activity.

“The investigation shows he as active in a criminal street gang,” Knifer said.
