Auntie Ann’s honored with county’s first 3-star rating
CAIRO — A local daycare is being lauded for achieving a high standard of excellence.
Auntie Ann’s Daycare, Summer Camp and After School Program became the first childcare provider in Grady County to receive a 3-star rating from the state’s Quality Rated System earlier this year. The rating is the highest possible score a childcare provider can receive.
Mayor Booker Gainor presented Angela Hopkins with a signed proclamation Monday night in recognition of her work at Auntie Ann’s.
“To the Hilton of daycares,” Gainor said as he presented Hopkins with the proclamation.
Established in 2001, Auntie Ann’s became the first Grady County daycare to become Quality Rated by the state five years ago. The daycare was reassessed by Quality Rated Assessors earlier this year.
In addition to the state’s ratings, the proclamation states that Auntie Ann’s has been voted Grady County’s best daycare eight times.
The mayor’s proclamation also acknowledged that Auntie Ann’s has awarded Cairo High School graduates more than $20,000 in college scholarships.
Hopkins also serves on the advisory board at CHS and Southern Regional Technical College. She is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
