Miltons hold family gathering in Thomasville

The Joseph Milton family celebrated their annual Christmas and New Year’s gathering at the home of son, Gary Milton’s, and his wife, Gale, residence in Thomasville. In addition to the two seasonal events, this year family members celebrated the 90th birthday of the mother of the family, Emily Milton on Dec. 30.

The celebration began with a luncheon of soups, salads and desserts of cookies, fudge, cakes and pies prepared by family members. The pies were prepared by first son, Alan Milton from the recipe collection of his late maternal grandmother, Mrs. C.M. Smith.

The gathering included the youngest family member, great-granddaughter, Collins Reese Milton, born Oct. 6, 2016; the first grandchild, Alison Welch; and the oldest family member, Joe Milton at age 94. Of the 37 family members there, 34 of them were present for three events. The three absent from the event was the first grandson and his wife of Raleigh, North Carolina; and granddaughter of Astoria, New York. They were attendance on Christmas Eve. The elder couple celebrated 71 years of marriage last July.

The family members include three sons, spouses, a daughter and her husband; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The events continued all day and concluded New Year’s Day,
