VSU Blazers down North Alabama

VALDOSTA — Sophomore sensation Beau Justice put on a show as he led the Valdosta State University Blazers to a resounding 99- 82 victory over North Alabama with a game-high 22 points Saturday.

Justice went 5-7 from beyond the arc, putting a dagger in the hearts of the surging Lions at critical moments in the game.

His dominate scoring, four boards and four assists in the contest proved to be too much for the scrappy opponents.

Justice did not go it alone.

Five Blazers ended the game in double figures.

Josh Lemons came aways with 20 points, while Jeremiah Hill, Saadig Muhammad and Damian Young each had 16 on the night.

As a team, the Blazers shot 92 percent from the charity stripe, 55 percent from downtown and 54 percent from the field.

Valdosta led by a a single digit at the intermission, 45-45.

Coming out of the locker room North Alabama let their hosts know they came to play, pulling ahead, but not for long.

Midway through the half, back-to-back three pointers from Hill and a third trey by Young was capped off by a Muhammad dunk that brought the house down.

The win takes the VSU men’s program to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

Next up for the Blazers is a showdown with Alabama-Huntsville, Monday, Jan. 2 with tipoff set for 8 p.m. at VSU.
