Tour de Tifton set for April 14

TIFTON — The ninth annual Ilse Boyette Memorial Tour de Tifton Bike Ride is set for April 14.

The ride will start and end at Tiftarea YMCA’s Hunt Park (1823 Westover Rd.), with the route to go through Tift and surrounding counties, depending on course. Course lengths are 11, 25, 45, 62 and 100 miles. The 100-mile course must be finished within seven hours.

Pre-registration, which lasts through April 7, is $30 per person and $50 per family. Later registration is $40 per person and $60 for families. Registration can be completed online at www.tiftareaymca.org or at www.active.com.

All who pre-register will receive a T-shirt, with families receiving one shirt per family. Supplies are limited for register later. Everyone who participates receives free snacks and drinks at stops along the way and there will be a meal after the ride. Those who complete either of the 100-mile courses will receive a special prize.

All children under the age of 16 are to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Out-of-towners riding in the Tour de Tifton are eligible for a discounted rate of at the Comfort Inn. The Tour de Tifton must be mentioned to receive the rate.

Proceeds of the event will benefit Tiftarea’s YMCA programs and book fund for nursing students.
