Piedmont National, Tire Distributors of Georgia hold joint ribbon cutting, open house

TIFTON — Piedmont National and Tire Distributers of Georgia, Inc both held a ribbon cutting and cookout at their Tifton locations on Oct. 19.

Piedmont National deals in packaging materials, including boxes, cushioning and protection, tapes and adhesives, packaging equipment and janitorial and sanitation supplies.

Tire Distributors of Georgia deals with tires of all sizes, from giant sized tired for farm equipment to tires for vehicles.

Jerry Milner, executive vice president for Piedmont National, said the division headquarters in Tifton has been open for about a year.

“Today is the joint Chamber of Commerce open house for us and Tire Distributors,” Milner said. “We’re very lucky to be a part of it and let people come in from the community that normally wouldn’t know what we do.”

The open house allowed attendees to tour the facilities, which are next to each other in the Tifton-Tift County Industrial Park.

“This division was headquartered in Albany for six years,” Milner said. “We were looking around when our lease was coming due in Albany and one of our VPs met up with Brian (Marlowe, president and CEO of Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce) and he started showing us real estate. We started looking at buildings and just couldn’t find a fit. So Brian said, ‘Why don’t we look for somebody to build you guys what you want?’”

The building was built to the company’s specifications, and they moved their headquarters to Tifton.

“We’re tickled to be in Tifton,” Milner said.

Tire Distributers of Georgia built their facility and moved in at approximately the same time, according to owner John Plumstead.

“Tifton is a great location in a great community and we’re happy to be here,” He said.
