MOULTRIE, Ga. — An investigation into a reported domestic dispute led to the arrest of a Colquitt County man on meth-trafficking and weapons charges.

Deputies were dispatched at about 6:37 p.m. Saturday to the 1400 South Blvd. residence of Terry Lee McDaniel and Sharita Armster.

McDaniel and Armster have children together, and McDaniel was in the process of moving out during an argument, said Sgt. Justin Lindsay of the Moultrie Colquitt County Drug Enforcement Team.

“He had packed his stuff to leave,” Lindsay said. “He pulled a firearm from his vehicle and allegedly put it at her throat and threatened to kill her. He fired one round in the ground.”

Armster pulled a book bag that contained a large amount of marijuana out of the 2008 Nissan Altima during the incident, he said. When deputies arrived they recovered two guns from the car, one of which is the one fired during the incident.

“He had a very large amount of colored pills that we believed to be (the drug) ecstasy,” Lindsay said. “It field tested for meth (instead).”

The haul of pills amounted to 218.5 grams, according to police.

McDaniel was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, aggravated assault, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Drug sale on porch

In an unrelated incident on Wednesday, police arrested a man after they saw him making an apparent drug deal on the front porch of his residence.

Officers were passing by Xavien Jamal Kinsey’s 104 E. Bethel Ave. residence at about 3 p.m.

“We observed him on the front porch selling marijuana to another individual,” Lindsay said.

When officers approached Kinsey threw a jar containing suspected marijuana.

“In addition, he had marijuana in his hand in a baggie that he was selling to the other individual,” Lindsay said. “He ended up resisting officers as he attempted to flee.”

Police are familiar with the 22-year-old Kinsey as he was arrested in November on marijuana, drug sale and weapons charges. At the time of his arrest in November police also charged him in connection with a March 9, 2018, raid at his residence from which he reportedly escaped on foot.

In the most recent incident police charged Kinsey with sale of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and obstruction of a police officer.
