Thomasville Garden Club welcomes public to 101st Annual Flower Show

THOMASVILLE — The Thomasville Garden Club, Inc. will be hosting their 101st Annual Flower Show at the Thomasville Garden Center from March 18-19

Susan Varnedoe, the publicity chair of the Thomasville Garden Club, said that this year’s show would be open to the public and that participants could bring their arrangements and horticulture arrangements on March 17 from 2-6 p.m.

She encouraged everyone to join and bring something beautiful from their yard.

“Anything that’s growing in your yard that you can put in a vase and bring to be judged,” Varnedoe said.

The Flower Show will consist of a number of individual arrangements, according to Varnedoe, and will have an assortment of themes, such as “Dinner in the Garden” and “Tea Party in the Garden.” The Thomasville Center of the Arts will be providing art pieces for viewing during the event.

“It’ll be a colorful, visual show,” Varnedoe said.

A ribbon cutting will be held March 18 at 2 p.m. to open the show and it will close at 5 p.m.

On March 19, the show will be open from 10 a.m.- p.m. with a Children’s Honey Bee Activity, a show for children ages 5-10, from 10 a.m.-12 noon.

Orchard Pond, a sponsor for the children’s event, alongside the Antiques Show Foundation, will be providing free honey, a live beehive and a beekeeper for the event.

According to Varnedoe, sponsors for the 101st Annual Flower Show include Dixon Pest Services, Hackney Nurseries, 1915 South|Ashley and Thomasville National Bank.

“It’s a beautiful show,” Varnedoe said, “It’s always wonderful to see what people bring from their yard.”

The Flower Show is free and open to the public. Varnedoe said that donations are accepted.
