Hospice of Southwest Georgia wins SHP Best CAHPS Hospice Award
Hospice of Southwest Georgia was recently awarded the Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) Best Hospice Caregiver Satisfaction Award. Based on 2016 survey results, Hospice of Southwest Georgia was ranked in the top five percent nationally among SHP hospice agencies for overall satisfaction, as measured from the patient family member’s point of view.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services survey, Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS), asks consumers and patients to report on and evaluate their health care experiences. CAHPS surveys focus on aspects of quality, such as communication skills of providers and ease of access to health care services.
“Patient experience is a high priority for us, and the surveys help us determine what methods work and what we can improve on,” said Sheri Walters, Hospice of Southwest Georgia administrator.
With one of the largest CAHPS Hospice benchmarks in the nation, SHP recognizes organizations that have made family and caregiver satisfaction a priority and have been rewarded for their efforts with high marks on the CAHPS Hospice survey.
Awards are determined based on the ranking of the overall score for a provider against all eligible providers in the SHP database for the calendar year for which the awards are being distributed.
“We are continually working on improving our survey scores, and the overall experience for patients and their caregivers,” said Clay Campbell, president of Archbold Home Health Services. “This award is a testament to the dedication of our Hospice of Southwest Georgia team to provide excellent care and compassion to every patient and family member we serve.”
